Joe Smith joined KPM LAW in 2017 as an associate focusing his practice on workers' compensation matters. He has experience defending employers and insurers during all stages of litigation before the Virginia Worker’s Compensation Commission. Prior to joining KPM LAW, Joe was an associate at a DC area firm practicing workers’ compensation defense.

Joe Smith joined KPM LAW in 2017 as an associate focusing his practice on workers’ compensation matters. He has experience defending employers and insurers during all stages of litigation before the Virginia Worker’s Compensation Commission. Prior to joining KPM LAW, Joe was an associate at a DC area firm practicing workers’ compensation defense.

Joe grew up outside of Charlotte, North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He attended the University of Richmond School of Law where he served as the Articles Editor for the University of Richmond Law Review. During law school, he interned at the United States Patent Office and for the Hon. Cleo Powell at the Supreme Court of Virginia. Upon graduation, Joe briefly worked in-house for a TPA taking over the public sector workers’ compensation program for the D.C. Office of Risk Management.

An avid sports fan, Joe enjoys following UNC basketball, the Carolina Panthers, and the Washington Nationals. When not working with clients and colleagues, Joe enjoys running, playing golf, going to concerts, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife and dog.
